Ronan Doherty

Ronan Doherty is a native of Gleann Cholm Cille, Co. Donegal and is here at Notre Dame as a Fulbright FLTA with the Department of Irish Language and Literature for the academic year 2011-12. He holds a B.A. in Media Studies and Modern Irish from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, where he also completed the Teastas i MĂșineadh na Gaeilge d'Aosaigh, a specialized course focusing on Irish language instruction for adult learners.
As a language instructor at NUI Maynooth he has taught degree students, international students, and adult learners. He has also lectured on Irish place names. Ronan has a background in audiovisual media, having been involved in productions for TG4 and the Gaelic Athletic Association, as well as working with international film festivals.
In the Fall term he will take courses in Psycholinguistics and the Irish Lyric Song Tradition. Ronan teaches Beginning Irish 1 this semester and will be running an Irish language table to give students an opportunity to practice their language skills outside of the classroom.
