Major
Requirements
The IRLL major offers a 30-credit major with either (a) a language or (b) a literature focus. In each case, students must take a minimum of nine courses after they have completed Intermediate Irish I (third semester language). These comprise the following:
(a) Language-Focus

Intermediate Irish II

Advanced Irish I and II
-
Two survey courses (20000-level)
- Five elective courses (taken at the 30000/40000 level in Irish literature, culture, and folklore); this must include one 40000-seminar taught in Irish
(b) Literature-Focus

Intermediate Irish II

Two survey courses (20000-level)

Seven elective courses (taken at the 30000/40000 level in Irish literature, culture, and folklore)
In addition, both (a) and (b) offer a 24-credit supplemental major with two fewer electives.
