Class Travels to Ireland for Fall Break

The Ireland’s Edge class, comprising of 12 undergraduate students, spent Fall break on Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands situated off Ireland’s western coast. This research-based class, generously sponsored by the R.C. Sweetman Fund and a Teaching Beyond the Classroom Grant from the College of Arts and Letters, allowed the undergraduates and their Professor Tara MacLeod, to spend a week conducting research on the islands. Often it’s the quiet ones who leave indelible impressions. 2013’s foreign language standouts begin with Caitlin Myron, nominated by the Irish Language and Literature’s (IRLL) Director of Undergraduate Studies, Tara McLeod. At the CSLC, we know Myron as the soft-spoken, reserved Irish language tutor. The mild-mannered demeanor of Myron, a senior English major and IRLL minor, belies a dynamic competitor in Irish dance, a passion she’s been perfecting since the age of six.
