IRLL Welcomes Caroline Gallagher, our Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant for 2019-2020

Caroline is from the Erris Gaeltacht in County Mayo.

She has spent the past two years promoting and teaching the Irish language with Gaelchultúr in Dublin. She has also instructed Irish language classes to undergraduate students at University College Dublin, where she obtained a first-class MA degree in Irish Writing and Communications. Her other studies include a B.A. in Irish and English from Dublin City University. She also got the opportunity to spend a year studying Communications and Finnish at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. She has a keen interest in literature and will take courses with the Departments of American Studies and English this year at Notre Dame.

Caroline has worked in Gaeltachtaí in Mayo and Dublin and has enjoyed hosting cultural activities such as céilí dancing, traditional music workshops and Gaelic football training. As a Fulbright FLTA, she will teach Beginning Irish and aims to work with the Irish clubs on campus to raise awareness of the rich Irish culture. She will also host language tables for those looking to meet other Irish language learners.
